A UNIQUE PROJECT IN TURKEY: MOBILE DISASTER RISK MITIGATION AND TRAINING TRUCK


International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation successfully developed, implemented and concluded an important project with the objective of contributing regional disaster risk mitigation applications.

Improving local application capacities by innovative techniques and alternative models to sustain 'High Secure Küçükçekmece' project which funded by Istanbul Development Agency, ISTKA and implemented by the IBC. As one of the important stage of the Project, mobile disaster training truck was delivered the Küçükçekmece Municipality on the ceremony organized at Halkalı Square.

Mobile disaster training truck was developed mainly aiming to increase people awareness for disaster reality of the Country and to train about prevention methods for possible disasters with the approach of in place trainings covering from different society members, including disables.

To the ceremony of the mobile training truck delivery, IBC President of the foundation Recep Üker, Küçükçekmece Municipality President Temel Karadeniz, Küçükçekmece County District Governor Harun Kaya and the people of the districts, stakeholders of the project attended the ceremony.

“DISASTER PREVENTATIVE AWARENESS WILL BE TAUGHT WITH IBC MOBILE DISASTER TRAINING TRUCK”

President of the IBC foundation Recep Üker stated out “we need to thought disaster precautionary methods to the elders of tomorrow. We hope that mobile disaster education truck will enable people of Küçükçekmece and the Basin to adopt with better skills to prepare themselves for disasters”.

During the ceremony, President of Küçükçekmece County Municipality Temel Karadeniz, highlighted the importance of disaster education programs stating” disasters are can be destructives for all countries in the World. At the same time since Turkey is an earthquake-prone country, we need to take action and prepare ourselves for the earthquakes. And I’m very thankful to everyone who contributed this Project” said President Karadeniz.

Küçükçekmece District Governor Harun Kaya stated out; “by the installation of the earthquake simulation, students, families, will have chance to experience earthquake which will contribute their capacities for preparing themselves to earthquakes.

Mobile disaster training truck contains interior equipment, such generator, air conditioning, monitors, training tables, computer and all technical equipment for usage at teaching prevention methods for possible disasters in mobile manner. Mobile disaster training truck is also designed with the approach of to be used as a coordination office in case of a disaster. Moreover relief aid can be delivered through the truck, and where the necessary can also be transformed into a field hospital.
