CONTRIBUTION TO VULNERABLE DISPLACED CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENT WITH CHILD FRIENDLY SPACE TOUCH

According to UN records as April’15 enucleated, the Iraq Humanitarian Profile estimates that 8.29 million people across Iraq are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. In Iraq children have been traumatized by violence and destitution. Almost 3 million school-aged children and adolescents affected by the conflict, do not have access to fundamental standards of education and child friendly spaces. More than 700,000 people are staying in critical shelter arrangements and many are likely to be forced into critical arrangements in the near future. Children in Iraq are disproportionality negatively impacted by sub-standard shelter conditions.

Due to the long-lasting humanitarian crisis experienced in Iraq IBC continues its cross-border humanitarian relief projects by contributing to vulnerable children’s development. IBC is continuing its humanitarian relief programs in Northern Iraq:

  • Responding to immediate needs of IDPs and host communities living under poor conditions,
  • Improving mechanisms for integrating the most disadvantaged into social life,
  • Assisting efforts to increase the education level of the most vulnerable and the society at large,
  • Providing assistance for people in need towards their sustainability.

Within the above stated humanitarian assistance and improvement approaches as the implementing partner IBC achieved establishment of 10 Child Friendly Space Concept Playgrounds in Northern Iraq, Zakho District in 4 different IDP Camps, in Bersiva – 1, Bersiva 2, Cham Misku and Khanke IDP Camps with German Humanitarian Assistance – Deutsche Humanitare Hilfe and Germen Help, Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V. funds.
