IBC'S SUPPORT PROJECTS FOR UYGHUR TURKS CONTINUE

International Blue Crescent Foundation continues its work for the Uyghur Turks who took refuge in Turkey after being exposed to many inhumane interventions in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China.

Especially for the Uyghur Turks living in the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul, the basic food and hygiene needs are met. Also, psychosocial support services to solve the problems of people affected by mass trauma and legal support services are provided free of charge for facilitating issues such as residence permits and marriage. In addition to all this, one of the most important goals of the project is to include Uyghur women in production by adapting to social life.

In the needs assestments carried out for the project, it is stated that the biggest obstacle in front of them regarding this issue is the language barrier. Uyghur Turks, who stated that they have less problems in expressing themselves with these courses, state that they communicate more easily with their neighbors or they feel more comfortable while shopping to meet any of their needs.

Expressing that they are very satisfied with the handicraft courses as well as the language courses, Uyghur women express their happiness due to the fact that they express themselves with these handcrafted products. The trainees, who say that they reflect experiences, hopes, and dreams on these products, are eagerly waiting for their productions to go on sale with the exhibition that is planned to be opened in the coming days.

IBC, which distributed food and hygiene packages to 750 families in the region last week, will continue to develop projects both to meet urgent needs and to support tp long times the Uyghurs.
