IBC INTENSIFIED ITS ACTIVITIES IN RESPONSE TO THE NEEDS OF EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS IN BAM/IRAN

International Blue Crescent Humanitarian Relief and Development Foundation(IBC) has intensified its efforts in Bam..IBC has established a permanent office in the Turkish container camps contructed by the Turkish Disaster Management Center .IBC has contributed to the contruction of four container camps each one with 200 containers able to accomodate 4500 earthquake victims.In each container camp two containers will be equipped by IBC as laundries and children psycological training centers.IBC is cooperating with TROCAIRE /Ireland in the project submitted to ECHO.The project aims the delivery of more than 80 waste containers to the camps too.
In a visit paid by IBC and CRS assesment team to Bam opportunities to launch a shelter house project investigated. Bam Governorship has allocated a land to IBC for the implementation of such a project covering approximately 500 most vulnerable families.There are discussions to implement the project in the populated areas too.
On the other hand IBC and Iranian Ministry of Health have signed a MOU for the contruction of a Health Center destroyed by the earthquake ,close to Behesthi Zehra Cemetery.
More than 20000 people living around were benefiting from the Health Center before..The Health center will be 600 square meters the minimum and equipped by the most appropriate facilities.MALTESER Germany is cooperating with IBC on this project by contributing financially.
IBC Bam permanent team works on three new projects as Establishment of a Semi Prefabricated School,establishment of Young Training Center and helping the Iranian authorities to meet the needs of the abandoned and left alone orphans.In this project IBC is will work closely with the Iranian NGO Ehya.

IBC has partners two most prominent NGO's of Iran,the Green Front and the FPA which have branches around the country and more than 6000 volunteers from different groups of society helping them.
IBC has already delivered food packages and blankets in the early first days and continues the distribution of food packages and kitchen sets..
Kinder USA and Reuters Foundation have contributed to IBC activities in the field too.
IBC is discussing to launch a Disaster Preparedness program in Bam and Teheran too.
All of the above projects are the main focus of IBC..In order to have more effective implementation we look for the support of other Turkish and international institutions too.
