THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE, MR. EKER, PARTICIPATED IN THE OPENING CEREMONY OF HASKÖY COOPERATIVE SUPPORTED BY OUR FOUNDATION

 

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Mr. Mehmet Mehdi Eker, has participated on the opening ceremony of Hasköy Cooperative whose formation has been supported by the International Blue Crescent (IBC).

During his two-day visit, Mr. Eker visited the service building of the cooperative and there declared the official opening. In addition to Mr. Eker, the governor of Ardahan, Mr. Murat Yıldırım; Member of Parliament representing Ardahan, Mr. Saffet Kaya; Provincial Director of Agriculture, Mr Fevzi Karakoç as well as numerous bureaucrats have participated in the ceremony.

After the opening, Mr. Eker has stayed in the cooperative office. Mr. Ercan Balcı, IBC project coordinator, has delivered a briefing to Mr. Eker on the purpose and activities of the cooperative as well as on our sustainable rural development project supported by the BTC Company. Mr Eker has been provided with a photo album demonstrating activities wide-ranging from construction of drinking water network, school reconstruction, beekeeping, greenhouse activities, cattle breeding and activities to enhance milk production.

The president of the Hasköy Cooperative, Özcan Yılmaz, informed Mr. Eker on the cooperative's aimed activities, objectives, opportunities and needs. Mr Eker in return has mentioned his satisfaction with the activities of the cooperative.

Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Eker, Governor of Ardahan Province, Mr. Yıldırım, and Member of Parliament representing Ardahan, Mr. Kaya participated in the opening ceremony.

Mr. Eker listened to the members of the cooperative talking about their problems.


After the ceremony, Mr. Eker went to Ardahan to participate in a consultation meeting with the non-governmental organizations about the problems of Ardahan and possible solutions to such problems. In this meeting, IBC representative stressed the importance of beekeeping activities as a nature-friendly and lucrative activity. After the meeting, IBC representative has mentioned IBC's assessment of the opportunities for the development of Ardahan province in detail to the general directors working at the Ministry of Agriculture.
