IBC Vice President Muzaffer Baca has represented Turkish civil society at the conference under the name “Our Challenge:Voices for Peace,Partnerships and Renewal” organized in UN Headquarters , New York between 7-9 September 2005. The 56 Annual DPI/NGO conference covered topics as the implementetion of millenium Development Goals, the future of UN, subjects lıke the collective security and the priorities of Civil Society and eradicating powerty. |

In addition to the conference, rountable discussions were held during the three day program where NGOs and international organizations representatives expressed their ideas and offers related with the topics mentioned. Jean Ping, President of the 59 session of UN General Assembly Fatou Bensouda, Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Anwarul Chawdhury, UN Undersecretary, Antonio Maria Costa, Director General of UNDOC, Gareth Evans President of International Crisis Group, Salil Shetty, Director General of UN Millenium Development Goals Campaign, Juan Somavia, General Director of ILO, Ann Veneman, former Executive Director of UNICEF were among the speakers. |

During the three days conferences and workshops IBC Vice President Baca had the opportunity to inform the participants about the strength and challenges that Turkish NGOs are facing. Bilateral discussions with Mr. Costa and Mr. Evans on the topics of human trafficking and regional peace problems were very useful and informative for both sides. |
