INTERNATIONAL BLUE CRESCENT HUMANITARIAN AID AND DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION LAUNCHED ITS HOUSING PROJECT IN ACEH...

IBC-International Blue Crescent team has implemented two assessment and one program visit to Aceh hit by the disasterous tsunami in December 2004 and contact with the local authorities and people who live there, and assessed that the most urgent need of the state is sheltering.

It is observed that relief organizations mostly preferred to work in Banda Aceh regarding of it's being the center of the state, easy to communicate and establish logistics etc...

Because of that IBC targeted to reach places where the relief is not received easily, communication is not established and logistic is not possible, and try to be a remedy for the loss of these people and work for their well-being. In this frame we preferred to deal with the reconstruction of villages in the remoted area of Jaya-Lamno in Aceh province.

In the first stage, the town of Lamno, which is 80 km away from the Banda Aceh, has taken as a center point, and contacts have been with the authorities to get the required permits to start the homage project in the 4 villages out of 8 which are allowed for building.

These villages are consisting of;
1. Mukhan...................86
2. Alue Mi...................89
3. Manuesah Rayuek...92
4. Teumareum............193 houses.

The projects of social center, clinic and shool for the use of public are also included in the village project. In the beginning of the working process also environmental cleaning and community rehabilitation works will be implemented with the help of the local people.
