THE BLUE CRESCENT MENTALLY CHALLENGED REHABILITATION CENTER 'S CHILDREN PARTICIPATED TO THE PRELIMINARIES OF THE PAROLIMPICS
 

If you will hear some happy voices loudly exclaiming “Hurray! We are sportsmen now!”, you have to know that these are the voices of our sportive from the BLUE CRESCENT SPECIAL TRAINING AND REHABILITATION CENTER.

Seven students of our Center participated to the preliminaries of the SPECIAL OLIMPICS, between the 26 th and the 27 th of March 2005 , in Bursa , representing the Marmara Region at athletics, swimming and ping pong sections.


In this way, sports events were included to our social and special training activities that we undertake since two years now. By getting to access the Special Olympics, our licensed young sportive, also got to know other individuals with same characteristics, different environments and different lives.

They shared with everybody the happiness of running on the stadium, jumping and participating in the swimming competitions, of hearing the sound of the ping pong small ball heating the wooden table… They lived the emotion and enthusiasm of getting qualified… They experienced the new situation of being apart from their parents for a wile, but they also tasted the pleasure of living an independent life.

 

 

THE BRANCHES WE PARTICIPATED AND THE MEDALS WE WON

Athletics:

- 50 m women first place, 1 gold medal (Ayten GÖÇER)

- 50 m women first place, 1 silver medal (Emine ESENBOĞA)

- 50 m men first place, 1 gold medal (Enes ESENBOĞA)

Distance jumping:

- 1 first place, 1 silver medal (Emine ESENBOĞA)

- 1 third place, 1 bronze medal (Enes ESENBOĞA)

Ping pong:

- 1 third place, 1 bronze medal (Yaşar Murat SÖNMEZ)

Swimming:

- 50 m free, men, 1 second place, 1 silver medal (Kenan KURT)
