INTERNATIONAL BLUE CRESCENT FOUNDATION HAS PROCEEDED QUICKLY IN REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH PROJECT OF ARDAHAN
 

International Blue Crescent (IBC) has started to implementing the Reproductive Health Project. With the implementation of Reproductive Health Project which is supported by European Union Delegation and being implemented by IBC, it is aimed to establish a conscious society about family planning, safe motherhood, CYBE&HIV/AIDS, breast and cervical cancer. By the means of the project that supported by Ardahan Healt Directorate, it is also aimed to widespread good practices and increasing the reach of people to health centers.

As the first step ten health officers has been staffed for starting to the project. During the employ process, quite transparent and objective criteria have been used. The professional knowledge, communication skills, harmony for team study were some of those dominant criteria of staff selection. IBC, pays great attention to use local human resources, has staffed all officers from Ardahan in this project, too. By the means of such principal, a modest contribution has been held for solving the unemployment problem of Ardahan.

The health officers who have been subjected to a intense training program by project coordinator and health expert, adapted to both work atmosphere of work and each other and they become enough to meet people at field, in a very short time. After that successful process, health officers started to visit villagers.

The health teams has displayed a high performance only just in first week. In first week, the teams has implemented 323 questionnaires in Hasköy Village,133 in Döşeli Village, 107 in Taşlıdere Village, 52 in Gölgeli Village, 34 in Atlaş Village, 31 in Köprücük Village, 97 in Samanbeyli Village. After the questionnaires, the health officers trains the women about reproductive health and they are being inspired about being more sensitive on these issues.

 

 

In the scope of the project, about 6000 women and 4000 men will be actively reached who are between 15-49 years in 100 villages of 6 counties. The Project which covers activities include trainings, consultancy services and social marketing campaign will be ended in March-2004.
