COPPEM EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING WILL BE HELD IN ISTANBUL.. EUROPEAN AND MEDITTERANEAN COUNTRIES WILL DEMONSRATE THEIR SUPPORT TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF TURKEY TO EU
 

COPPEM-EU-Meditteranean Standing Commitee for Local and Regional Cooperation will held its next Ex-Com meeting in İstanbul.At the meeting on January 2005 the main topic will be discussed is the cooperation between local and regional authorities for preventing the immigration.In addition the membership of Turkey to EU will be debated and a support declaration will be issued.

International Blue Crescent Humanitarian relief and Development Foundation Vice President Muzaffer Baca has been elected as Vice President of COPPEM 2.nd Commision about Cooperation between cities and regions.

IBC Vice President Muzaffer Baca,has urged COPPEM members to intensify their efforts for cooperation in order to promote the peace in the region

Drogheda(Ireland) Mayor submitted a plate for
appreciation because of the support to their independence to the Turkish mayors group in Palermo


The meeting of the commision will be organised simultaneously in Istanbul.Mayor and local leaders from more than 29 countries from EU and MENA will take part at the meeting.

Officials from EU Commission and leaders of European Parliament groups will be invited. In addition Turkish Foreign Minister and General Secretary of Islamic Conference are expected to take part at the meeting.

COPPEM Ex-Com and president and vice president of the four commisions will form a standing committee for permanent cooperation on EU funded projects and follow up of the implementation.The committee will be responsible of generating new Projects aiming the cooperation between Moslem MENA countries and EU .

COPPEM is willing to play a vital and crucial role for the identification of development projects for the entire region and to promote the capacity of regional stakeholders. .

The Turkish committee constituted by Mr İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu (Mayor of Great Municipality of Izmit, Mr Fikri Köse (Mayor of Maltepe Istanbul), Mr Ahmet Duyar (Mayor of Yenimahalle Ankara ) and Mr Ruhi Kurnaz (General Director of Transport of Great Municipality of Ankara)
