INTERNATIONAL BLUE CRESCENT HUMANITARIAN RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (IBC) HAS PROVIDED DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING FOR IRANIAN NGO'S AND AUTHORITIES
 

International Blue Crescent Humanitarian Relief and Development Foundation(IBC)has organised a disaster management training course for 28 Iranian officials and NGO representatives between 03-13 October 2004.The training organised in İstanbul has been provided by Asian Disaster Preparedness Center APDC trainers under the supervision of Profesor Doctor Ahmet Mete Isikara.

Between the trainees were the Governor and subgovernor of Kerman state(Iran),governor and mayors of Bam-the city hit by earthquake in 25th December 2004 and lost 40.000 people,leaders of the crisis centers and community representatives.

The main subjects of the training were the preparedness stage,the intervention during the disaster and aftermath and reorganization of the disaster intervention capacity.

During the training the Deputy General Director of Turkish State Disaster Management Center Mr Ismail Yildirim and the former General Director of Turkish Red Crescent(On duty during the 17th August 1999 disasterous earthquake in Turkey) transferred their experiences to the Iranian trainees.

In addition to the training programme filed visits to Izmit and Duzce erathquake hit cities have been paid and briefings from local governors provided to the Iranian trainees.

IBC get the opportunity to introduce its Izmit Mentally Challenged Education and Rehabilitation Center and Duzce Self Help Housing projects .

IBC işs implementing different rehabilitation projects in earthquake hit Bam city of Iran since the beginning of the year 2004.

In this frame IBC runs eight Children Psycological Rehabilitation Centers,four laundries and deals with the rehabilitation of different neighbourhoods and the intorduction of new safe building systems in Bam.
