IBC HAS DELIVERED WATER TO TWO MORE VILLAGES IN ARDAHAN

International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation (IBC) have been solving the problems of the people living in the Ardahan region. Within the framework of Quick Impact Projects, the drinking water problem of 11 villages was solved previously. IBC has been continuing to give importance to this overwhelming issue. A few days ago the drinking water problem of Cobanli and Balikcilar villages were permanently solved. The activity was one of the best examples of solidarity between local authorities, NGO's and inhabitants.
The lenght of water pipe need of each village differed. Asikuzeyir Village required 2544m, Balikcilar Village 3210 m water pipe. IBC provided the pipes.	The inhabitants of each villages voluntarily took part in the activities.
While IBC provided the necessary means, such as water pipes, the inhabitants worked voluntarily in the lying down of the pipes. The activity began in the last week of the June and could be completed on 6 th of August 2004. It was quite hard and the assistance of the inhabitants was vital for the success. This was not all, however. Especially in winter the living conditions are very hard and the road is covered with mud which makes everything, even walking, harder. Thus technical experts of IBC were in charge of finding an appropriate way to solve this vital problem as well.
According to the experts the best solution would be the stabilized road coating of Cobanli Village . The implementation of the activity was bound to the assistance of the Directorate of Village Works' contribution, however. Thanks to the contribution of the Directorate of Village Works, all the necessary equipments could be transported to the village. The Directorate also provided road roller which should be regarded as crucial for the coating. The inhabitants of the village worked voluntarily in the activity. The result was quite satisfactory. The Ardahan Community Investment Project was launched in the last week of June in 2003. Since then, many social and economic problems of the region could be solved or at least alleviated. IBC i s aware that these achievements are not enough, however. The region has overwhelming problems and these can only be achieved by always looking one step forward.	Quick Impact Projects were one of the most important branches of the Ardahan Community Investment Project and till now many overwhelming problems were eliminated.
