INTERNATIONAL BLUE CRESCENT RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION HAS DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 3000 PACKAGES OF VEGETABLE SEEDS TO THOUSANDS OF RAISER, FREE OF CHARGE
 

International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation (IBC) has been trying to strengthen the economic and social position of people living in Ardahan. The main economical activity of the region relies on agriculture and stockbreeding. Therefore IBC's initial support obviously concentrates on enriching the opportunities of farmers of the province. IBC delivered more than 3000 packages of vegetable seeds in the scope of its project related to agricultural development activities, free of charge. The seed distribution activity took place on 1 st of April and 515 farmers benefited from it.

Ahmet Baykent, agricultural expert of IBC supervised the distributions and informed the farmers about some basic rules about agriculture.

At the stage of distribution, the priority was given to those villagers who participated in the trainings of IBC. The villagers, who didn't have the opportunity to attend to the trainings of have continued to get seeds from IBC Posof Office. The agriculture experts of IBC have delivered different kinds of seeds to owners of green garden and other villagers on the basis of planting area. Within the framework of the activity, IBC distributed hybrid tomato and cucumber seeds, melon, watermelon, tomato, egg plant, pepper, garden cress, cress, radish, cabbage lettuce, romaine lettuce, parsley and marrow to the owners of green gardens.

The experts of IBC, who are well-informed about the problems of the farmers, have identified that some important mistakes are done during seeding, soil preparation and applying natural insecticides. Besides advices were given related to those mistakes, experts also suggested farmers using some natural medicines like nettle plant, tobacco juice and spurge in order to save the organic characteristic of the vegetables. Those theoretic training studies will continue during the seedling and harvesting stages in practical way.

The experts of IBC believe that such supports can be a turning point
for organic characteristic of the agriculture in the region.
